Welcome to the PAMELA project – an initiative to prevent and manage phantom limb pain.
Our mission is the empowerment of amputees in Ukraine. We're dedicated to guiding them on their path to enduring pain relief by deploying a therapeutic self-management app for rehabilitation. Simultaneously, for healthcare professionals, we aim to facilitate knowledge and skills transfer by providing evidence-based recommendations and comprehensive teaching materials on the prevention and management of phantom limb pain.
The self-care app designed to guide patients through an 18-month pain management and empowerment program.
The app ensures personalized training through the selection of diverse modules tailored to individual needs, whether in a hospital, rehabilitation setting, or at home.
The app respects limited resources (e.g., explains how to do therapy at home) and financial possibilities.
The app monitors its use by a core set of patient-reported outcomes.
The PAMELA project is financially supported by the Else Kroner-Fresenius Foundation. The charitable foundation is dedicated to promoting medical research and supporting humanitarian projects. To date, it has supported around 2,400 projects. With an annual funding volume of currently over 60 million euros, it is the largest foundation in Germany that promotes medicine.
The PAMELA consortium is an international and interdisciplinary team that brings together the expertise of multiple specialties.
We are united by the idea that people affected by amputation in Ukraine must be helped in an uncomplicated and unbureaucratic way so that they can manage with their lives after an amputation.
